The handbook is designed for different types of stakeholders:

The WEFeF 2.0 is location-specific and thus area-based, meaning that it starts from the diagnosis of a problem in a specific geographic area. Key questions that the framework helps to address are:

What are the best local organisational and/ or technical interventions for enhancing WEFe performance, thereby minimizing trade-offs and improving synergies within the WEFe nexus?

How can these interventions be embedded into an overall solution approach to facilitate their implementation in a particular social-ecological context?
The handbook is structured into five distinct phases (see 1.2) and contains different qualitative and quantitative methods.
To implement them, the handbook provides detailed explanations in the form of “method protocols”. Analysts have the flexibility to select the most appropriate methods from the handbook based on various factors such as available resources, existing knowledge, stakeholder relationships, the nature of the problem being addressed or the accessibility of information.
To implement the WEFeF 2.0, it is therefore important either to already have well-established contacts with stakeholders in the field or to invest in developing such relationships.
The underlying rationale is that stakeholder engagement will:
Improve the understanding of the WEFe nexus;
Legitimize the outcomes (i.e., the selected interventions and their implementation pathways of the framework implementation).
